The song opens with a simple keyboard hook before a prominent bass guitar comes in, along with a rhythm guitar and live drums. The song consists of two verses and several repetitions of the chorus. Also featured is a keyboard solo on the bridge. This song opens Prince's Dirty Mind tour. The B-side of the track is controversial Dirty Mind ode for oral sex, "Head".
