Good Buck Chuck is a 2007 American romantic comedy starring Dane Cook and Jessica Alba. In the film, the woman finds "true love" after having sex with a dentist named Chuck (Cook). Chuck meets a girl named Cam (Alba) and tries to be his true love. The film opens in theaters on September 21, 2007, and is very much loved by critics. One of the Good Luck Chuck spots of theater poster parodies the famous cover of Rolling Stone photographed by Annie Leibovitz featuring John Lennon and Yoko Ono in poses.

Plot
While playing seven minutes in heaven at a party in 1985, 10-year-old Charles "Chuck" Logan (Connor Price) refused to kiss a gothic girl named Anisha (Sasha Pieterse) who tried to have sex with her. In retaliation, Anisha puts a curse on Chuck, so every woman he sleeps with will break up with him and marry the next guy who asks her out.
Today, Chuck (Dane Cook) is a successful dentist in his thirties, and runs a dentist's practice in the same building as his plastic business friend Stu (Dan Fogler). Chuck finds himself unable to tell his girlfriend, Carol (Chelan Simmons), that he loves her, and she broke up with him while having sex on the beach. After breaking up, Stu and Chuck decide to attend the wedding of one of Chuck's ex-girlfriends, Katie. At Katie's wedding, Chuck becomes captivated by Cam Wexler (Jessica Alba), a clumsy marine biologist, yet charming and friendly. Their chemistry is visible as they begin to speak. The marriage finally ended, and they seemed to be separated. While working in the penguin habitat, Cam accidentally slips and cuffs his teeth. When he visits Chuck to fix it, he asks her to go with him instead of paying him. Though initially reluctant, Cam agrees. Meanwhile, Stu noticed the pattern of the girl getting married soon after Chuck had sex with them. Stu finally convinces Chuck to accept the entry of a woman who has learned from the pattern and visited his practice, arguing that there is nothing better than having a lot of guilt-free sex. However, after this so-called "guilt-free sex" with many women, Chuck decides he wants a serious relationship with Cam. However, just before he had sex with her, Stu told him that every woman Chuck had slept with was married, including Carol. Worrying that the same thing will happen to Cam, Chuck starts to avoid it.
Stu convinces Chuck to test the curse by having sex with a fat woman, and see if he marries afterward. Chuck asks Stu to ask the woman out to see if this produces the wedding, and when not, Chuck concludes that the curse is fake, and has sex with Cam. After that, however, Chuck discovers that the woman Stu supposedly asked to marry another man. Chuck calls Stu, who confesses that he's just pretending to ask her. Chuck is angry at Stu's betrayal, but Stu does not care about his complaints. Chuck believes Cam wants to date Howard Blaine (Steve Bacic), who wrote a book about penguins. Still convinced that Cam would hang out with him, Chuck tried desperately to get Cam's attention and asked him to marry him. However, his efforts make Cam sure he followed him and he broke up with him. After breaking up, Chuck tries to track Anisha to break the curse. Now married to a child, Anisha reveals to Chuck that they are only children then, and the curse is not meant to be real.
Now deciding to let fate take its course, Chuck puts Cam in touch with Howard, and both seem to connect instantly. Stu convinces Chuck to chase Cam, who is now heading for Antarctica with Howard. After Chuck found him, Cam revealed that Howard was married to someone else, and that he would only be away for a week. Chuck Cam's hand is a ring box containing pebbles, a reference to a penguins' wedding ritual in which a male penguin finds a rock and takes it to a female penguin that he wants to be with (hence, proposes). Meanwhile, Anisha is shown pulling a pin from a voodoo doll, which signifies that Chuck is released from the curse and finally gets his dream girl. A year later, Chuck and Cam are in the Antarctic together surrounded by penguins.
Later, Stu is shown with now his wife's house-sitting for Chuck and Cam who are now married as well. They searched for homemade videotapes, and found disturbing tapes where Chuck gave oral to a fancy penguin while Cam was off-screen making sex sounds, implying that they might have made the tape and left it for Stu to find as vomit.

The film is composed by critics. According to Rotten Tomatoes, only 5% of critics gave a film positive reviews, based on 114 reviews. The film was slightly better received by the audience, which gave it a 57% 'rotten' rating. At Metacritic, the film has an average score of 19 out of 100, based on 23 reviews, showing "tremendous dislike".
Roger Ebert presented this movie 1 of 4 stars, labeled him "potty-mouthed and brain-damaged", while his reviewing partner Richard Roeper also gave a bad judgment.

The film is the second best-selling film at the US box office on its opening weekend, raking in $ 13.6 million in 2,612 theaters. The film then has a total box office count of about $ 35 million US and $ 24 million foreign. Currently the movie has received mixed reviews, the IMDB has a rating of 5.6.
Accolades
The film earned two Razzie Award nominations including Worst Actress (Jessica Alba) and Worst Screen Couple (Alba and Dane Cook), but lost to Lindsay Lohan for I Know Who Killed Me .
Production
Good Luck Chuck was filmed from late September to mid November 2006. The film was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia and partly in Edmonton, Alberta, using Alberta Film Studio for the aquarium scene and the Old Strathcona neighborhood for exterior photoshoot.
