access New York Public Library

I just wanted to show the entire New York City population that Project MUSE is available to anyone, from home, to the NYPL's library card. I have heard about this a while ago and just found out for sure, so I have pulled my app. Coretheapple (talk) 19:30, March 3, 2015 (UTC)

New reference tool

There is a new Visual Editor reference feature in development called Citoid. It's designed to reference "auto-fill" using URL or DOI. We would greatly appreciate your testing whether TWL partner referrals work in Citoid. Sharing your results will help developers fix bugs and fix systems. If you have a few minutes, please visit the test page for simple instructions on how to try this new tool. Nikkimaria (talk) 04:48, April 11, 2015 (UTC)

Is it a normal month or there is a problem?

Just like FYI, it's been a month since I filled out the google form (September 7) and I do not have any further email about it. Drop the note here if this is not just the expected delay (see "Expect this process to take two weeks [...]"). --Xover (talk) 04:09, October 8, 2015 (UTC)

A few weeks for me, but no response so far. "WarKosign" 06:40, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Your information has been forwarded to Project Muse. The moon rotation is about typical. NegMawon (talk) 20:06, October 8, 2015 (UTC)

Thank you. Perhaps relevant texts should be updated to reflect this ("one month" vs. "up to two weeks"), just to let the applicants know when the time is starting to feel uneasy and when should they lean and wait? --Xover (talk) 03:08, October 9, 2015 (UTC)
This sounds like a good idea for me. --C.Koltzenburg (talk) 09:15, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
@Xover and C.Koltzenburg: We are working to resolve this issue: our average registration to access the time frame is 27 days. We'll hire a developer for a simple online app that lets us better track this app, process it faster, and bring it to partners within a shorter time frame. Astinson (WMF) (talk) 16:15, October 14, 2015 (UTC)
@Astinson (WMF): Or, maybe, we can update the infobox-thingy with a revised estimate to correctly set the expectations of the applicant. I feel pretty safe in betting that it will be cheaper... Ã, :-) --Xover (talk) 21:49, October 14, 2015 (UTC)
@Xover: Updated. Please let me know if there is anything else we can make more transparent about the access process. In the long run, Users: Nikkimaria and I spend a large amount of time spent monitoring various pages, spreadsheets, and voluntary activities to ensure quality, due to the highly manual nature of this work. Relatively, a small number of contract money developers are a much cheaper proposition, and allow us to focus on other types of effective scaling from the impact of our donor dollars. Astinson (WMF) (talk) 14:20, October 20, 2015 (UTC)
@Astinson (WMF): Thank you. And for the record I'm just kidding: the point is that managing applicants' expectations in this way is essentially free and will block their frustrations and reduce the number of such requests you have to face, while waiting for more efficient systems to be ready. Even when your end is as efficient as possible, actively managing the expectations of the applicant will still be a good idea to take into account delays at the end of the donor. I'm sure we would all rather if your time and Nikkimaria can be spent on something more productive (and involved) than manually managing what software will do better and faster. Your efforts are very, very much appreciated! --Xover (talk) 17:09, October 20, 2015 (UTC)

Just post to say I have access problem (userID and granted the pass not working). Who do I contact? --Helichrysum Italicum (talk) 15:44, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

@Helichrysum Italicum: Are you still having problems? If so, I'm sure the NegMawon account coordinator can check it for you. S is W alton (talk) 23:04, February 14, 2016 (UTC)
@ Samwalton9: thank you for your attention, I have solved the problem with NegMawon via email! --Helichrysum Italicum (talk) 18:07, February 15, 2016 (UTC)

Anyone with MUSE access

Can anyone see the following article "Republican Courts and Female Domain Domains Historiography" by David S. Shields and Fredrika J. Teute in Early Republican Journal, Volume 35, Number 2, Summer 2015, p. 169 -183 (MUSE URL)? I need to check the & amp; words about this editing Martha Washington. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 22:38, October 22, 2016 (UTC)

@Shearonink: Email me. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:10, October 23, 2016 (UTC)
@Shearonink: The source cited does not support the information entered in the edit. It did not touch on Mrs Washington's opposition, or lack thereof, for the president of Washington; his desires, or lack of, for a "quiet life"; his opinion of the duties of her husband to his country, or the relative priority of this task for another matter; or his thoughts about his "work" with respect to aid to Washington or other American leaders in the 18th century. One may be able to infer something about his view of the latter by the activities described in the quoted article, but that would be a new synthesis or original study. Supporting text in editing relevant to this source is also somewhat odd because the article takes on a too feminist perspective and inserted text reflects a rather patriarchal perspective (or, in other words, I suspect Shields and Teute will object to being quoted for that particular purpose). In other words, edits must be returned or moved and cited to sources that really support them. My recommendation is to delete it.
Notice, however, that the quoted source does not support the first part of the passage (opposition to the presidency of Washington), and there are some questions as to whether his interpretation of the source quoted is accurate in the "role political background" (the article confirms otherwise : the role of this woman is public , not private , and supports official power structures, unlike explicitly personal power given by women, usually through their influence on men). Thus, the whole section will benefit from rewriting by someone with a proper understanding of this area (which is not me, sorry). It also appears to be a possible area for the historiography of feminist perspectives that can be usefully discussed in the article. --Xover (talk) 07:13, October 23, 2016 (UTC)

Authentication Test Failed

My MUSE access seems to blink again. @ Maile66 and KAVEBEAR: does this work for you? Caeciliusinhorto (talk) 12:16, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

This works for me... right now. MUSE can be kind of weird in that. Mostly, it works for me. Then this hiccup and will not let me in, but if I try again soon, it allows me. - Maile (talk) 12:22, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
So, it turns out if I try to get in long enough, it will eventually let me. Caeciliusinhorto (talk) 13:44, 11 February 2017 (UTC)
