Background and composition

The album is her first album for four years since 7 , which failed to match the surprise sales of 2001's Escape . "Insomniac" is not just the title of the album, it is also the fact of Iglesias's life, which says she often takes a sleeping pills to get a good night's rest. Iglesias recorded most albums in the evening and early morning hours. He wrote over 50 songs before setting out on 12 songs that he felt was strong enough to put in the album.

Insomniac runs the whole emotional anxiety, moody placement, perpetual love and constant sexual pulse. He said he wrote hundreds of songs for this album. "The more songs I write, the best chance I can choose 12, 15 is great. It's not that I want to make music changes, I just want to write good songs." This album is said to be the most diverse Iglesias to date. It features a song titled "Miss You", which has been dedicated to her boyfriend, former tennis star Anna Kournikova, as well as the song, "Push", which she performed with rapper Lil 'Wayne - a great departure from the usual materials. The first single, "Do You Know", has been known as the "ping pong song" because of its tremendous beats. There is also a cover of Ringside's indie pop band "Tired of Being Sorry".

"I want to write about love because that is the one thing we all identify.Everyone knows what it feels like with the person you love, and fall in love. You suffer from love and then love makes you happy."

Critical reception

Allmusic's asker Stephen Thomas Erlewine gave the album 2.5 out of 5 stars, writes: "'Insomniac' is pushed into a younger audience but Enrique has too many crossover men to spend the entire album doing nasty Sometimes, he pushes too hard in either direction, but sometimes Iglesias strike the right balance between pop crossovers and the new trendy retro-wave production. What works on a slick, sweet makeover is what always works for it: ballads and middle-of-the-road pop songs. may not be hip, but they are part of the family tradition, and when he attaches to them, he becomes as good as ever. "Lauren Murphy of Entertainment.ie criticized the songs, writing:" Every track here is a bleak number, murmuring, sluggish, and tortuous, sounding harsh and friendly in radio that has been done millions of times before and better or just sound so amateur that they are memal ukan. "Jonathan Bernstein of Entertainment Weekly wrote" Insomniac sees Iglesias being possessed by the vengeful spirits of Toad the Wet Sprocket ("Stay Here Tonight"), performed by Lil Wayne on a sluggish club banger. Push, and, yes, defeated by a sample ping-pong ball in Do You Know? (Song Ping Pong) . "

Jerome Blakeney from BBC Music gave the album a positive review, stating that "He remains king with caution and at least half of this album keeps him strong at the top." Joey Guerra of the Houston Chronicle also gave the album a positive review, writing: "The secret weapon of Insomniac, however, is a ballad, which makes Iglesias - of course - a sensitive and sensitive Spanish lover." Scott Shelter wrote for Slant Magazine that "The ballads are disappointing because the rest of Insomniac is not half bad, and if all ballads are like acoustics" Do not You Forget About Me ", Insomnia will be a worthwhile endeavor; instead, this is a case study in the title of an ironic album.
