"Could It Be Magic " is a song with lyrics by Adrienne Anderson and music by Barry Manilow, based on Pronada Chopin Soldier in C Minor, Opus 28, Number 20. Originally released in 1971 by Featherbed musician sessions featuring Barry Manilow), produced and co-written by Tony Orlando, was subsequently re-recorded as Barry Manilow's solo track, given the first album and single release in 1973 at Bell Records and - after remixing - the album and single rerelease in 1975 on Arista Records. The 1975's re-release became one of Manilow's first hits. The song has been recorded by a number of other artists over the years, most successfully by Donna Summer in 1976 and by Take That in 1992.

Versi Featherbed dan Barry Manilow

Shortly after he signed Barry Manilow to the newly acquired Bell Records label at Columbia in 1969, Tony Orlando, vice president of Columbia/CBS Music, began producing songs for Manilow. Orlando donated the lyrics to Manilow's "Could It Be Magic," and made it a pop uptempo single. Manilow merely arranges or arranges a commercial jingle up to that point; he was not proven as a pop song arranger, and thus was not allowed to set backing tracks for the 1971 release of the song. Early versions of the song were released under the name Featherbed, a "ghost" group consisting of session musicians including Manilow.

Originally released on the Bell Records label, the composer hated Tony Orlando's ugly settings (see Sweet Life ), as Manilow said in subsequent interviews, he greatly appreciated the fact that the song went off the charts. However, he has been quoted in recent years for somewhat softening his opinion about the track, saying it was "somewhat interesting".

Featuring bubblegum bubble beats, cowbells and shades of "Knock Three Times", the chorus is the same, but the original verse lyrics have nothing to do with Manilow's own hit version released in 1973 and again in 1975.

Manilow produced and rearranged the next version, a slower tempo on his debut album, Barry Manilow in 1973. Six months later, former Columbia Records president Clive Davis will take over Bell Records and merge them into Arista with all the labels Other Columbia Pictures like Amy, Mala, Colpix, and Colgems, to name a few.

Most of the artists at Bell were dropped during the merger, but due to the popularity of the song, Manilow was brought to Arista in the spring of 1974 and "Could It Be Magic" was relaunched as a year later - two years after it was initially recorded, where it reached number 6 in America Union.

The lyrics "Sweet Melissa" is a tribute to Melissa Manchester singer Manilow's-Arista label-mate.

The song was remixed in 1993 using the original orchestration of brass and string combined with new drums, bass and synthesizers, and included in the album Greatest Hits: The Platinum Collection . The extended remix of the 1993 version was released as a 12 "single promotion and included on the 12" single "I Really Love to Meet You Tonight".
