Plot
Brooklyn, 1942, Evelyn Kurnitz has just died after suffering a long illness. Her husband, Eddie Kurnitz, needed to take a job as a traveling salesman to pay for the medical bills, and decided to ask her firm and straight-talking mother, from whom she was a little alienated, if her teenage sons, Jay and Arty (the Grandmother they insisted on calling with their full names, Jacob and Arthur, whom he said "Yakob" and "Artur"), could stay with him and Aunt Bella Kurnitz at Yonkers.
