" Party All the Time " is a 1985 single by comedian and actor Eddie Murphy, written and produced by Rick James and Kevin Johnston. It was the lead single from Murphy's debut album How Could It Be . The single was recorded at James's home studio in Buffalo, New York. It reached # 2 on Hot 100's Billboard for three weeks, behind "Say You, Say Me" by Lionel Richie. Rick James also provides vocals for the song.
The song was the lament of the singer that despite the expensive things she gave him, her boyfriend would rather spend her time dancing and flirting with other men, rather than stay home and show affection for her.
Since 2014, the song has enjoyed a miniature revival in Scotland thanks mainly to supporters of St Johnstone F.C., who has now adopted it as the club's official song.
