Locklin first released a song on the 78-disc Star 1360 in September 1949, but did not reach the charts. Locklin was re-released in December 1957 on RCA Victor 47-7127 single, and peaked at No. 1. 5 on the Billboard ' s chart of "Most Played C & amp; W by Joki" and across to the pop charts.
In the 1960s, the song became a hit for The Browns, Johnny Tillotson, and Dean Martin.
