Biografi

1980-2000: Awal kehidupan dan awal karir

Clifford Joseph Harris Jr. born on September 25, 1980, in Atlanta, Georgia, Clifford's son "Buddy" Harris Sr. and Violeta Morgan. He was raised by his grandparents in Atlanta, Center Hill, near Bankhead Highway. His father lives in New York City, and he often goes there to visit. Buddy Harris suffered from Alzheimer's disease and died of the disease. Through his grandmother, he is a descendant of Cherokee.

T.I. started knocking at the age of eight. He attended Douglass High School, but then came out. His original stage name came from his childhood nickname "Tip", after his father's great-grandfather. He was once known as Rubber Band Man, a reference to the habit of wearing a rubber band on the wrist to show a wealth in terms of drugs or money.

In 1996, T.I. making friends with local rapper Big Kuntry King, with them selling mixtapes from the trunk of their car. Comrade "KP" Prather, a recording executive, invented T.I. and then signed it to his record label Ghet-O-Vision Entertainment. After signing a contract with subsidiary Arista Records, LaFace Records in 1999, he shortened his name from Tip to T.I., in honor of Arista's label-level counterpart, Q-Tip. T.I. relay situation like:

We are both at Arista and we are trying to release my first album. People who have to market, promote, and, you know, just spread the word about it communicated that it's a bit difficult or confusing to have two Tips in one building. So out of respect and just the legendary reputation and career that preceded the situation, I definitely admit. My problem, or the conflict, at that moment, now this is what I call my whole life, what am I changing the name to? So, I guess, it started to hold my project. 'What shall we call him?' You know what I say? So at that point we had to achieve some sort of resolution. And KP, who signed me to LaFace, he just said, 'OK, look, what about T.I?' Cause on this one note I have, it's like, 'T-I-P.' I like, 'Wait a minute, wait a minute. No. That was - you left a letter! 'You know what I'm saying? He's like, "Well, listen to the guy.You got something better?", 'No, I do not have - I do not have anything better.' 'Well, that's what we'll do, man.' So kinda how it happened.
